In 1989, Bob Jones, Dean of Admissions at Hampden-Sydney College, asked Royall to do a "Search" program for the college. Hampden-Sydney's response rate increased by 38% in its first year with Royall. Today, response rates to Royall's multichannel search programs are over 16% percent on average, well above national rate (see the fifth annual Harvard Summer Institute Study by Ed Gillis for more details) and Search makes powerful contributions to clients' entering classes.

Market Research

Client response to the success, low cost, and speed of an ad hoc market research program led Royall to establish University Research Partners, and to hire Pam Kiecker, Ph.D., as Royall's first Head of Research and Issue Analysis. URP now conducts Applicant vs. Non-Applicant studies, Enrolling vs. Non-Enrolling, and other customized electronic surveys – which provide actionable results – for dozens of clients.
