As with all of the important developments at Royall, we began partnering with colleges and universities because someone asked us to – that responsiveness to client needs and requests is what we do.

In 1989, Bob Jones, then Dean of Admissions at Hampden-Sydney College, asked us to conduct a Search campaign. The school received a 38% increase in responses that first year – and remains a client to this day. Bob told some of his friends about us and they told some of their friends, and the rest is our history. We even named a conference room after him!

In 2010, we got back to our roots in fundraising. Our roots date back to 1983, when Royall was founded as a direct response agency serving major national nonprofit organizations. Today, our fundraising efforts are targeted to higher education.

We don't just sit back and wait to be asked to innovate, though. We constantly test new technologies and tactics, including SMS and IM channels, Facebook integration, mobile-optimized campaigns and QR codes.
